  • ABA, Roundtable Working to Secure Dot-Bank Domain for Industry (2/6/12)
ABA and the Financial Services Roundtable's BITS division are working together to ensure the banking industry controls the sensitive new Internet ".bank" domain and opportunistic startups do not usurp the job of registering companies for ".bank" sites, Doug Johnson, ABA VP and senior adviser for risk management, said February 3 in a Washington Perspective column. "We … believe … that either banks or someone that our industry trusts should be trusted as the administrator and registrar of dot-bank sites," Johnson said. "The trust of bank customers and the integrity of our payments system could be undone by a company or an individual whose only interest in becoming the keeper of the dot-bank domain is financial gain." For more information, contact ABA's Doug Johnson.
